The great challenge for those who become familiar with someone is to be able to see the mystery of God in them. This is the great risk of becoming ordinary, of mixing with others, of being one with others in such a way that one cannot see anything other than an equal. Jesus Christ took us on, mixed with us, became familiar with humanity, shared our limitations, and was in solidarity with us in everything, except sin, which is not human (to sin is to say no to God and his work, especially to human beings). This level of familiarity increased even more with his blood relatives and fellow citizens. They certainly had difficulty seeing the mystery of God in Jesus. Hence their need for miracles, extraordinary things, amazing things, etc., things that, in truth, distort faith.

2. No one should believe on the strength of miracles and spectacles. Miracles are signs and not the reason for faith. So, two things in this text indicate the rejection of Jesus: the fact of the incarnation and the search for miracles. As for the incarnation, they only saw in Jesus a simple man incapable of saving his own family, without a dignified social position, identified simply as “the son of Joseph”. To this end, they used the expression “Physician, heal thyself”. As for the search for miracles, it was an idolatrous form of that people, which would lead Jesus to place Himself as an Idol, a traitor to His true condition of obedience to the will of the Father. In such a situation, the persecution of Jesus begins and, at the same time, a sign of His Passion.

3. Those people lacked the search for truth, the victory over the logic of the world and the recognition of the presence of God. The text invites us to see that therein lies the need to be friends of God, but without forgetting that He is the Totally Other, the Absolute, the Lord of all things, our Creator and Father, Redeemer and Sanctifier, the absolute reason for our existence. The more intimate we are with the Lord, the more involved we will be in His mysteries, the more knowledge we have of Him, the greater the need to know Him becomes, the more we have penetrated into His love, the deeper and deeper the need to love Him and to be loved becomes. The character of mystery will always exist, because God is absolutely beyond us.

4. God's plans are not carried out according to our will, but according to His designs. God's logic is different, and Luke shows this with the example of the work of Elijah and Elisha on behalf of pagans in need of God's mercy. They ran after, sought and found within Israel, with the prophets of Israel, while the people of God themselves were granted nothing. God is not limited to a territory, tied to any person or people. By rejecting Jesus, those people are despising their Liberator and, at the same time, opening the door of salvation to the pagans, who will recognize God through His prophets.

5. The reaction against Jesus is reminiscent of the reaction against the prophets in the Old Testament and indicates not true faith, but belief in an idol built according to the parameters of the sinful and domineering form of man, who has not yet managed to bow down to the TRUE God (which is why they become furious when they hear the truth spoken by Jesus). While the prophet speaks in the name of God and, for this very reason, cannot change his speech, the people want something else, often follow another language and allow themselves to be guided by the logic of the world. Many are so attached to themselves and the world that they can no longer see the gift of God. Jesus is THE GIFT OF GOD for the salvation of all, but He is not being well received by His family. Since His birth, He has not been well received by humanity, then by His family, and even more by religion and society. They want to kill Him! This is the situation that will happen to anyone who places themselves at the disposal of God's will and, like Jesus, they will face all those who want to kill them and will follow the path desired by God.

When will we have the courage to renounce ourselves?

When will we be able, even when suffering, to embrace the truth taught by Jesus?

How long will we continue to fight for a life according to the inhuman way of the world, throwing away the GIFT OF GOD?

How long will we let the prophets speak to the winds?

How long?

O grande desafio para quem se familiariza com alguém é conseguir depois enxergar nele o mistério de Deus. Esse é o grande risco do se tornar comum, misturar-se com o outro, ser um com o outro de tal modo que não se possa ver outra coisa senão um igual. Jesus Cristo assumiu-nos, misturou-se conosco, familiarizou-se com a humanidade, participou de nossas limitações, solidarizou-se conosco em tudo, menos no pecado, que não é humano (pecar é dizer não a Deus e à sua obra, especialmente ao ser humano). Esse grau de familiaridade aumentou ainda mais com seus consanguíneos e concidadãos. Esses, certamente, tinham dificuldade em ver em Jesus o mistério de Deus. Daí a necessidade que tinham de milagres, de coisas extraordinárias, mirabolantes etc., coisas que, na verdade, deturpam a fé. 

2. Ninguém deve crer à força de milagres e espetáculos. Os milagres são sinais e não razão de ser da fé. Então, duas coisas nesse texto indicam a rejeição a Jesus: o fato da encarnação e a busca por milagres. Quanto à encarnação, apenas viam em Jesus um simples homem incapaz de salvar a própria família, sem posição social digna, identificado simplesmente como “o filho de José”. Para isso, usavam a expressão “Médico, cura-te a ti mesmo”. Quanto à busca de milagres, era uma forma idolátrica daquele povo, que levaria Jesus a SE colocar como Ídolo, traidor de Sua verdadeira condição de obediência à vontade do Pai. Em tal situação, tem-se início a perseguição a Jesus e, ao mesmo tempo, uma sinalização de Sua Paixão.

3. Faltou naquele povo a busca pela verdade, a vitória sobre a lógica do mundo e o reconhecimento da presença de Deus. O texto nos convida a enxergar que ali reside a necessidade de sermos amigos de Deus, mas sem esquecer que Ele é o Totalmente Outro, o Absoluto, o Senhor de todos as coisas, nosso Criador e Pai, Redentor e Santificador, razão de ser absoluta da nossa existência. Por mais íntimos que sejamos do Senhor, mais envolvidos nos Seus mistérios estaremos, por mais conhecimento que tenhamos DELE, mas torna-se maior a necessidade de conhecê-Lo, por mais que tenhamos penetrado no Seu amor, mais e mais se abisma a necessidade de amá-Lo e de ser amados. O caráter de mistério sempre existirá, pois Deus nos ultrapassa absolutamente.

4. Os projetos de Deus não se realizam de acordo com a nossa vontade, mas segundo os Seus desígnios. A lógica de Deus é outra, e Lc mostra isso com o exemplo da atuação de Elias e Eliseu a favor de pagãos necessitados da misericórdia de Deus. Eles correram atrás, procuraram e encontraram dentro de Israel, com os profetas de Israel, enquanto ao próprio povo de Deus não foi concedido nada. Deus não está circunscrito a um território, preso a alguma pessoa ou povo. Rejeitando Jesus, aquele povo está desprezando seu Libertador e, ao mesmo tempo, abrindo a porta da salvação para os pagãos, que reconhecerão a Deus por meio dos Seus profetas.

5. A reação contra Jesus lembra a reação contra os profetas no Antigo Testamento e indica não uma verdadeira fé, mas a crença num ídolo construído segundo os parâmetros da forma pecaminosa e dominadora do homem, que ainda não conseguiu dobrar-se ao Deus VERDADEIRO (por isso ficam furiosos ao escutarem a verdade proferida por Jesus). Enquanto o profeta fala em nome de Deus e, por isso mesmo, não pode mudar o seu discurso, o povo quer outra coisa, segue outra linguagem muitas vezes e se deixa conduzir pela lógica do mundo. Muitos estão tão apegados a si mesmos e ao mundo que não conseguem mais enxergar o dom de Deus. Jesus é O DOM DE DEUS para a salvação de todos, mas não está sendo bem recebido pelos seus familiares. Desde o Seu nascimento, já não foi bem recebido pela humanidade, depois pelos familiares, e ainda mais pela religião e pela sociedade. Querem matá-Lo! Por essa situação passará todo aquele que se colocar à disposição da vontade de Deus e, como Jesus, enfrentarão todos aqueles que os querem matar e seguirão o caminho querido por Deus.

 

Quando vamos ter coragem de renunciar a nós mesmos?

Quando vamos ser capazes, de mesmo sofrendo, abraçar a verdade ensinada por Jesus?

Até quando continuaremos lutando por uma vida segundo a forma desumana do mundo, lançando por terra o DOM DE DEUS?

Até quando deixaremos os profetas falando aos ventos?

Até quando?
