The text clearly reveals the importance of the NAME of Jesus for the salvation of the world. It does not mean that the "name" alone can do something, but because it belongs to the Holy of Holies, to the Son of the Most High, to the Liberator par excellence, to the Savior. It is, therefore, a fearsome, holy name that reveals the salvific mission of the Son of God. Using the name of Jesus to do good is a sign of drawing closer to Him and recognizing His person. In a certain way, it constitutes a hidden admiration, but one that seeks to manifest itself. Whoever uses the name of Jesus can, little by little, begin to walk in His direction.

2. Acting in the name of Jesus means submitting to the way He acts, having the same interest in the salvation of people. A very serious problem arises when many use this name to obtain material goods, exploit people, manipulate consciences and distort the Gospel itself. Today, as is well known, sectarian groups are growing in a frightening way, using the Word of God, the name of Jesus, for the sole purpose of profit. In this situation, proclaiming the name of Jesus is not a benefit, but a way of eliminating its power and relativizing its meaning. On the other hand, many, despite this, come to know Jesus. Thus, it is not appropriate to fight against those who profess Him, who are not in tune with Him, because, in the end, the Truth will win, because the Name of Jesus is strong enough to transform the place where it is found.

3. It is not up to the disciples to prevent others from speaking in the name of Jesus. That is not their mission. They were given the mission of announcing and bearing witness to the truth according to the teachings of the Master. Their concern should be to proclaim the Word of God worthily, bearing witness to it among men and women, going to all corners of the earth. The desire to imprison Jesus in the universe of their concepts and way of thinking does not match the reality of the disciples; it is not up to them to be Christ's owners, but rather His legitimate envoys. They should be tolerant and remain in tune with Christ and available to the same salvific practice as the Master. The disciples must be aware of their intimacy with Jesus and the truth they have learned, certain of their mission and identification with the Light of the world, becoming light themselves.

O texto revela claramente a importância do NOME de Jesus para a salvação do mundo. Não significa que o "nome" por si somente pode fazer alguma coisa, mas porque pertence ao Santo dos Santos, ao Filho do Altíssimo, ao Libertador por antonomásia, ao Salvador. É, portanto, um nome temível, santo e revelador da missão salvífica do Filho de Deus. Usar o nome de Jesus para fazer o bem é sinal de aproximação a Ele e de reconhecimento de sua pessoa. De certo modo, constitui uma admiração escondida, mas que pretende se manifestar. Quem usa o nome de Jesus, pode, aos poucos, ir fazendo uma caminhada na Sua direção.

 

2. Agir em nome de Jesus significa submeter-se ao modo de Sua ação, tendo o mesmo interesse pela salvação das pessoas. Um gravíssimo problema se estabelece quando muitos se servem desse nome para angariar bens materiais, explorar pessoas, manipular consciências e deturpar o próprio Evangelho. Hoje, como é notório, cresce, de modo assustador, grupos sectários, que usam a Palavra de Deus, o nome de Jesus, com a exclusiva finalidade do lucro. Nessa situação, proclamar o nome de Jesus não é um benefício, mas uma forma de eliminar sua força e relativizar seu significado. Por outro lado, muitos, apesar disso, passam a conhecer Jesus. Assim, não convém guerrear contra quem O professa, não estando em sintonia com Ele, pois, no final, vencerá a Verdade, pois o Nome de Jesus é suficientemente forte para transformar o lugar onde se encontra.

 

3. Não cabe aos discípulos impedirem a outros de falarem em nome de Jesus. Essa não é a missão deles. A eles foi dada a missão de anunciarem e testemunharem a verdade segundo os ensinamentos do Mestre. A preocupação deles deve ser proclamar dignamente a Palavra de Deus, testemunhando-A entre homens e mulheres, indo a todos os cantos da terra. Não condiz com a realidade dos discípulos o desejo de aprisionar Jesus no universo de seus conceitos e modo de pensar; não cabe a eles serem donos de Cristo, mas seus legítimos enviados. Eles devem ser tolerantes e permanecerem em sintonia com Cristo e disponíveis à mesma prática salvífica do Mestre. Os discípulos devem ter consciência de sua intimidade com Jesus e da verdade que aprenderam, certeza de sua missão e identificação com a Luz do mundo, tornando-se também ele luz.
