In fact, sin has made the human mind very inclined downwards, so as not to allow it to quickly open up to the things above. Although the desire for God is innate in human beings, surrendering oneself to Him is a real challenge, because instinctive interests are the closest, the most "tasty", the apparently human ones. The Pharisees did not want to lose their religious power; the Herodians, in turn, did not want to lose their political power. And so, each one fought for his worldly interests.

2. Remaining in command is the dream of every insubordinate person, of those who think they are irreplaceable, the only one capable of such a role or mission. In this type of person, there is no room for God, for mercy and for recognizing one's own limitations. Therefore, not only does he follow God, but he also does not serve the people, but he uses both God and the people to maintain himself in power. So, any sign from heaven can be reminiscent of illusion, perhaps another way of wanting to assume power. In such a situation, what is conceived as rational is what will be most appetizing, most trustworthy. Faith does not find its decisive place in such a space. What reigns is hypocrisy, dirty play, creativity to profit at any cost.

They are invited to break down any and all barriers that prevent them from seeing the true Messiah Servant, the Son of God present there, the only liberator; they are invited to surrender themselves totally to God's plan, to be authentic witnesses of salvation, to identify exclusively with Christ.

4. The decisive step of the disciples will be taken after the Resurrection of Jesus. Until the day of the Master's resurrection, the disciples will be under the power of ignorance, doubt, and the darkness of faith. However, they are able to see Jesus as a great man, a great prophet, the promised Messiah, but still according to the logic of Israel. The clarity of faith will come with the Resurrection of the Son of God.

Reflexão

1. Os discípulos também sofrem da mesma cegueira dos fariseus e herodianos. Mesmo tendo visto os sinais, ainda continuam endurecidos nos seus conceitos, demonstrando uma tremenda dificuldade de compreensão diante da novidade de Jesus Cristo. Na verdade, o pecado tornou a mente humana muito inclinada para baixo, de modo a não lhe permitir uma rápida abertura às coisas do alto. Apesar de o desejo de Deus ser inato no ser humano, entregar-se a ele é um verdadeiro desafio, pois os interesses instintivos são os mais próximos, os mais "saborosos", os aparentemente humanos. Os fariseus não queriam perder o poder religioso; os herodianos, por sua vez, não queriam perder o domínio político. E assim, cada um, lutava pelos seus interesses mundanos.

 

2. Seguir no comando é o sonho de todo insubordinado, de quem pensa ser insubstituível, único capaz de tal função ou missão. Nesse tipo de gente, não há espaço para Deus, para a misericórdia e para o reconhecimento das próprias limitações. Por isso, não somente segue a Deus, como também não serve ao povo, mas usa tanto de Deus quanto do povo para se manter no poder. Então, qualquer sinal do céu pode lembrar ilusão, talvez mais uma forma de se querer também assumir o poder. Em tal situação aquilo que se concebe como racional é o que será mais apetitoso, mais confiável. A fé não encontra em tal espaço seu lugar decisivo. Quem reina é a hipocrisia, o jogo sujo, a criatividade para se lucrar a qualquer custo.

 

3. Os discípulos de Jesus são convidados a não se assemelharem a essas pessoas, a não usarem do mesmo fermento hipócrita, a não seguirem os ditames exclusivos da razão, mas orientarem sua existência pela fé. São convidados a quebrar toda e qualquer barreira que os impede de ver o verdadeiro Messias Servo, o Filho de Deus ali presente, o único libertador; são convidados a se entregarem totalmente ao projeto de Deus, a serem autênticas testemunhas da salvação, a se identificarem exclusivamente com Cristo.

 

4. O passo decisivo dos discípulos será dado depois da Ressurreição de Jesus. Até o dia da ressurreição do Mestre, os discípulos estarão debaixo do poder da ignorância, da dúvida, da escuridão da fé. No entanto, eles conseguem ver Jesus como um grande homem, um grande profeta, o messias prometido, mas ainda segundo a lógica de Israel. A clareza da fé dar-se-á com a Ressurreição do Filho de Deus.
